Having efficient logistics processes are the business weapons. By keeping all operations connected, it ensures that there are no failures in serving the end customer.

Let us tell you about a company that has been around for many years, who recognized the need to adapt and stay competitive in an ever-evolving business landscape, so decided to find technological advancements to update its logistics system.

our Solution

A Detailed Approach Focusing on the User and the Experience.

This project is what we internally call "Entering through the black hole", the logistical processes are complex and involve a lot of people management and their needs. Each person faces unique challenges, so we must thoroughly understand the matter at hand and what better way than to carry out a study. First step lets align what are the study intent and how it should be processed:

Knowledge beliefs

We need to question all knowledge and understand its source to feel confident about investing in certain features. To do this, we took two approaches. First, we looked at the challenges the project owner faces, and then we considered the challenges faced by their team. For each challenge, we asked how certain they were about their knowledge.

In simple terms, from the customer's point of view, their teams require a mobile app to place orders, a notification system for improved communication between departments, and a database list to manage all the requests and customer information.

Unpack the Knowledge

To validate the requirements with a low ratio, we need to consider the perspectives of the logistics teams and identify common patterns. Since there are many people involved, we conduct two types of sessions: interviews with groups of 4 key team members, followed by a collaborative session where all the pieces of the process puzzle are put together. By doing this, we gain insights from each team's personal perspective and also understand how the other teams perceive each other.

We looked at what each department needed and confirmed the client's uncertain requirements. Initially, the idea was just a mobile app, but actually, they wanted to be able to enter orders from the office too, using a desktop computer. This means we need to create an application that can work well on both mobile and desktop devices.

Structure the Priorities

Based on the discussion about the process and what worked and didn't work, we made a list of solutions we could think of. In order for the development process to be efficient and for the investment in the product to be balanced, we need to determine priorities. We have to decide which features should be created first and which ones would be nice to have but are not as important. We also need to consider features that may not be currently suitable because they might only be used by a small number of people.

Sketch the solutions

Now that we have gathered information from the study and set our priorities, it's time to roll up our sleeves and start planning the user experience of the new platform. We start by defining the new navigation and then move on to determining what content should be included on each page. This way, we can create a visualization of how the platform might look and focus on the logic part first. The best part, we can test it out and make improvements without wasting time and resources on the actual implementation.

After two weeks, we have created a roadmap that shows what solutions we need to develop and when they will be completed. We have also planned out the user experience by determining what content should be on each page.

Now, we can start applying styles to this experience and begin implementing the design.
